Thank You For Your Support - From The Arc of The Hill Country

On behalf of The Arc of the Hill Country, I would like to thank you for your support during this year.  Thanks to your support, the year 2015 was the best year in our organization history.  I am writing this letter to let you know how your membership and volunteer hours made an impact on the lives of those with developmental or intellectual disabilities in our community this year;
  • We were able to host a Spring Talent Show, where over 30 talented clients proudly showed off their hidden talents,
  • We held a Summer Theater Camp with 17 clients and showed off their theatrical talents at the Brauntex theater,
  • We completed a nine-week Fall Craft Workshop teaching basic woodwork and painting skills to 12 – 20 clients in each class.  In addition, the crafts made in the class were used to raise funds for future creative workshops,
  • We held monthly dance parties where members and clients enjoyed social interactions and a night of dancing,
  • We received 10 monetary donations amounting to $6,835 and numerous material donations from various individuals and local business entities, and
  • We received over 1,200 volunteer hours from parents, students, and board members to carry out the events listed above.

The above accomplishments would not have been possible without the support from people like you.  The officers and board members are planning an even more successful year in 2016 offering new programs/social events, and your membership and volunteer hours are instrumental in the success of this new challenge. Please contact us today to volunteer, or donate for this great cause.  I hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday season.

Sincerely,

The Arc of t he Hill Country Annual End of the Year Board Meeting Dec.6, 2015 2pm

Merry Christmas Everyone!!!

Well, here it is another end of the year!  Wow how time flies!   As we bring 2015 to an end, so does our 5th year as
The Arc of the Hill Country, Chapter 3232!!  From just a hand full of folks wanting more for their loved ones,  to all you wonderful
people, we have succeeded in touching many lives.  And we are not done!

Sunday, December 6, at 2pm, at the John Paul II High School, we will be meeting for our end of the year annual board meeting,
and you are invited!    We hope you will attend our meeting to hear about our accomplishments for the year, and to discuss 2016 and
what all we hope to see happening.  We will be discussing our short term and long term goals.  Which we have many!
We have a few board member positions that are opening up and want to discuss what  those positions mean to the new members.
We generally have our board meetings before our dances so we are asking for one day a month commitment.  Plus a couple extra days
through the year for fundraising and other fun events.
Our reason for this board and our activities is to better provide outlets for our loved ones to get out and about in the community.
We want their lives to be fulfilled and busy and fun.  That is our main concern, our loved ones.

There are many things in the works, and many long term goals, and the only way to get any of these things accomplished, is with
help from you.   There are workshops, seminars, continuing education, transportation and many other ideas  to get to.
Sometimes it doesn't go the way we hope, and sometimes we just have to keep trying.  Many folks work full, or part time and cannot
participate in all, which is why we need more folks to help fill the gaps.  Sometimes we don't all agree, but majority rules and our loved
ones having more options is our goal.  There are many local resources that have not been tapped and just waiting for the opportunity.

We  can't quit now because we have many years to fill the lives of our loved ones.  We want them to have the best and no one but
their loved ones, us!, can make that happen.  Who else will fulfill their lives but us?  Who else will offer programs, seminars, fun activities,
continuing ed and making the best friends of their lives?  Only we can do that, and only we can do that with help from you!
If you want more for your loved one, get involved and make it happen.  The Arc is our solution, only with your assistance!
What goals do  you have for your loved one?

Our goal is to one day have our own center, with endless possibilities.  There is no miracle to making this happen.  It's hard work, commitment,
time,  energy and you.   Don't quit on the dream, make it happen and try harder.  What will your loved one being doing for the next 20 plus
years?   Not much without you doing your part.  Gordon Hartman doesn't live in New Braunfels, but we do!!  Let's make it happen!
