Arc of the Hill Country Dance Nov. 19, 2016

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone,

As  mentioned in the last email, we are looking for some of you wonderful folks to join our organization!

    We need you to help us make the most opportunities available for our loved ones. Whether it's social, educational,

     or  recreational,  we want every opportunity within reach in our community.   You need not be on the board for this,

     but we are looking for more board members and/ or officers.   

  The board serves for 1 year, up to 3 years for each position.   We generally meet the same day as our dances,

     just a little earlier.  We would want your participation in fundraising events and any seminars we would host.

    

We have high goals for our loved ones.  One way is the PEACE Program, which is doing great and ready to expand its' growth,

both in participants and activities.  It's  active, fun places  to go during the day, using each participants skills  to the best

of their abilities.  We started out on Tuesday's and Thursday's and have added Wednesday's at McKenna Children's 

    Museum.   Monday's and Friday's are soon to come!

But we need help.  Just a little time from so many could make such a difference.

We have years to go and we know our area is ready for more programs that we want to be a part of.   

    And we want you to be part of it with us!

     I'm attaching The Arc of the Hill Country's registration form and the

PEACE Program application as well.

Arc of the Hill Country Info & Save the date!! Nov. 19, 2016

Happy November Everyone!

Soon, we'll be saying Happy New Year!  So get ready!

The end of the year also brings our voting season for The Arc.  It's time to elect and/or reelect our officers and board members.

We ask each member serve one year, and the term limit is 3 years for each position.  

The annual membership dues to The Arc of the Hill Country, allows one vote per family for all positions on the ballot.

Before we get to the voting, we would love to recruit some of you to be on our board!  Run for an officers' position!

Become more  involved and help us help those we love and serve.

We have high goals for our loved ones.  Our PEACE Program is doing great and ready to continue it's growth,

both in participants and activities.  It's an active, fun place to do during the day, using each participants to the best

of their abilities.  

But we need help.  Just a little time from so many could make such a difference.

We have years to go and we know New Braunfels is ready for more programs that we want to be a part of.   

We will talk about this more at the dance in a couple of weeks, so be thinking about it!

Hello Everyone!!

So many have sign up for the talent show, but it's not too late!

Sign up now and come to the rehearsal this Saturday,  the 10th,  at 2pm at the 

John Paul II Catholic High School.  

Bring your talent with you!   The song, music sheet, props or whatever you need to complete your show.

We will have a run thru and get us all ready for the talent show in 2 weeks!!

I am thrilled that we have you as an avenue to help us create a way to reach out to family members of individuals who have IDD. I am attaching two flyers: one is an informational flyer regarding the Regional Support Team and includes a listing of the 36 counties we serve.

 The second flyer is regarding the "Celebrating Direct Support Professionals" seminar that is coming up on September 8th in San Antonio. People who receive IDD services and their paid and unpaid supports are welcome to attend. We have received donations to cover lunch and refreshments, and each participant will be able to identify an exemplary direct support professional whose name will be included in multiple drawings for gift cards!  The deadline for registration is noon Friday, September 2nd, so please
spread the word as quickly as possible. (I wish I would have sent this information several weeks ago.)

We hope the rains have left you high and dry!   Looks like there may be more rain this weekend, tho it may

be later in the day on Saturday!!  Bummer!

   With all this rain,  the river may well be closed for tubes!!  Another bummer!!

Safety is a must! 

But, they  have a wonderful place out there to sit and relax, watch the river roll by, play outside

games,  have a cook out and swim in the huge swimming pool!

So we hope you join us out there!  No refunds, so we will be there!   Will you?

We will start getting there at 10 am.  Set up, get the grill ready and then relax!

Lunch will be at 1pm, burgers, dogs, drinks and what ever else we all bring.

Please RSVP NOW because we are shopping tomorrow for the burgers, and we want you to have

one!

August 20, 2016 is coming fast and we are having a day on the Guadalupe River at the Rio Raft Resort!

We hope you will be there too!!

We'll have lunch then float and swim the day away!

We will really need your RSVP because we don't want to have too much or not 

enough.  If we don't know you are coming, there may not be a burger with your name

on it!   One big meal, so we can all enjoy the day and not spend it grilling burgers, cooking or cleaning!

We need help to put this on!!  Can you please help? We need someone to grill the burgers!  Some to help serve, help clean up help make sure everyone is having fun and being safe!! We want us all to be able to enjoy ourselves, so help is needed!!!

Come early, stay late,  bring the family and enjoy the beautiful resort!! Bring your tubes, rafts and anything else you need for a fun, summer day!

The resort charges  $6.00 per person.  Then you have access to the river

 and the huge swimming pool.   The acres of shaded areas to play games,

or just relax!!

The Arc of the Hill Country July event ~~~~~~~~ "Do you believe in magic" at the Brauntex Theater!! July 16, 2016!!!!!!

Happy summer Everyone!!

We hope you are enjoying your summer!!  We are,  inside with air conditioning!!

For July, we usually take a hiatus, but this year for the 3rd summer, we are working with  Wishing Star Theater Productions"!!

We are having a theater show this Saturday,  July 16, 2016 at the Brauntex Theater, downtown New Braunfels.

We will have a matinee show at  3pm,  and the evening show starts at 7pm.

The admission is only  $3.00 and we would really love to have your support and come see a show!!

Big Give SA Update We're absolutely devastated by the technological issues that the entire Give Local nationwide event is experiencing. Our primary goal is to make sure that our charities and our donors can connect in a way that is safe, secure and equitable for everyone who wants to participate. We hope to resume the event beginning at 6 a.m. tomorrow (May 4) through 8 p.m. tomorrow night.  We are making decisions right now about how we will reallocate the prize money for our nonprofits. There are still many details that need to be worked out, that we will announce no later than 5 a.m. tomorrow morning.  The website will still be live and accepting donations tonight, but realize if you or your donors are giving tonight, you may experience issues and the leader board totals will not reflect the true totals that are donated. Additionally, prizes will not be awarded between now and 6 a.m. Any donations that are made through the site  will receive an automatic email confirmation that will indicate that the transaction was successful. This is how you will know that your donation was credited to your organization of choice. The Arc of the Hill Country's April event is our BOOK SALE at KidsFest, April 16, 2016!!

Hello everyone!

This Saturday April 16th is KidsFest at the Comal County Fairgrounds!!   Rain or shine!  So we are praying for the shine!! This will be a fun day for the whole family so come on out and have a great day!! We will be unloading our trailer at 7am!!!   And could sure use some help from some of you early rising guys!! We have to unload and set up within the 2 hours before the gates open at  9am and want to be ready for the crowds at 9am.   Just show up and help out then check out all the booths and activities there.   We hope to be there until  6pm when the gates close and then the rains can come!!  If you are there at closing, we could sure use help closing up. Come support The Arc of the Hill Country and get some great books and a fun family day!!

Bring your basket and get ready for an egg  hunt!!    We'll have some crafts to do,  raffles, dancing and  good ole fried chicken!

We are going to host a Bingo night!!  For those that don't like Bingo, we'll have other board games

and things to do.  And of course, we will have dinner too!
